Open Question: My laptop's CPU usage is little too high for comfort...?

So, I just got an HP pavilion dv5, the newer models that are sold at bestbuy. I just got it about a month ago and I use it daily but I don't really run to many programs on it, but the CPU usage is a little high, it usually stays at around 54% to 88%. It's been bugging me lately and I know why the fan runs constanly (cause the CPU needs cooling down) and I've heard that AMD processors have a reputation for getting a little warm, sooo, what do you guys think I should do.

Open Question: Weird things happening, trojan?

i downloaded something from piratebay.org :S i regret it now. Every time i turn on my pc the arrow has the loader sign next to it and most of my desktop items have changed their picture to a white background file. when i click on AVG to scan my pc it does not load. Neither does any of the files with the weird background. When i opened the file from pirate bay it said to pick a program to run it with, the only one there was Curse Client so i used that, not most of the desktop items have the Curse Client Picture on it. Help! i don't know what to do, i can only play some games but thats it. i cant open things like Mozilla or WinRar or Steam. Whats going on! please help Its not working. When i click to keep the malwarebytes software nothing happens. i ran in non networking mode and when i tried to click an icon with the Curse logo it said curse cannot open this file it needs access to the internet. I think curse is the problem but it wont let me delete it from Task Manage

Open Question: Should I attend a CC or four-year to transfer to Yale?

I was reading Yale's website, and on the section they had regarding transfer applications it was stated that 'special preference will be given to those coming from community colleges or a military background.' From speaking with former students and teachers, Yale typically likes to extend offers to applicants that otherwise would not have been able to attend or arrive from an nontraditional background. I believe that if I attended a CC (in my case, it would be BMCC in NYC) versus Baruch College, I will be able to sway my admissions essay more favorably as to why studying at Yale would be most paramount. In the past, I have seen two applications from Suffolk Community College receive excepted. My stats are below: High School GPA: 3.3 (numerous AP and honors classes), AICE Cambridge program, SAT 1410 (no SAT 2, and I plan on taking the ACT before I apply to Yale). EC: worked 15 hours a week, ran cross-country (team captain) /track and played tennis, junior and senior historian, president of key-club, eagle scout, extensive volunteer work (hospitals, charities, soup-kitchen), played piano (performed for charity ball as well), teacher-aid program, Bright Futures Scholar, yearbook Staff and poetry club. During this summer (I took a year off in between) I went to China to do volunteer work and obtained my real estate license. Also, does it help that I know three former students and a current teacher whole will every write me letters of recommend? I appreciate any comments or concerns. (also, I want to try to transfer as a sophomore first.) As well, I intend of obtaining and maintaning nothing lower than a 3.7 in college and keeping the EC stuff up to par.

Open Question: Computer help, my PC starts up then I click on an icon and nothing loads?

My pal came over today to check out what type of RAM my PC takes because I need more in order to use CS5. He opened it up looked inside closed it and plugged it back in. He leaves and a little while after I start it up and it takes forever for my icons to appear which it never did before, then they finally load and I click on them and the program takes like 5 minutes to open and when it opens it does not load. I restarted it a couple times and the same thing. The last time I started it up it starts up in start up repair mode i left that running for 4 hours and nothing happened my mouse keeps freezing. what the hell did he to to my pc? please help!

Open Question: 18, homeless, jobless and running out of places to go...?

I live in Dover, NJ. My family has constantly kicked me out and let me back in for years. Now it's finally to the point where they don't want me to arrive back at every. I am 18 years old, and a graduate of high school. Unfortunately, I don't have a job, and it's difficult for me to receive one because I do have a few mental problems that I pretty much faked coping with in order to receive out of the hospital program I was in a few years ago and I am an alcoholic/substance abuser... I also think I might be pregnant... I go to the church for food, or head to the mall and make rounds on free samples, stay with friends when they let me, but I really don't want to spend the relax of my life like this... Does anyone have any tips on what I can do, or where I can go...? I know I screwed my life up really bad on top of the problems I already had, but... I don't want to be like this anymore, and I just need help to know where to go from here before I give up... Would marines even let me join if I am actually pregnant? And there is a lot of diners, yes, but how exactly am I going to receive to one of them if I have no way to receive to one?

Open Question: I'm so worried about grad school. Help?

I'm about to become a senior (undergrad) at a UC. I'm preparing for my GRE which I'm taking this month, so I'm very worried about that. I'm also worried about not getting to any Speech-Language Pathology Master's programs because of my GPA. I currently have a 3.34, and though I'm planning on raising it, I may only receive to around a 3.5 when I graduate in June. The school of my choice's average GPA is 3.7, with a GRE score of 1100. I'm just very nervous about applying and then getting rejected. Am I making a big deal about nothing? Any comforting/honest words would help, as this is very important to me. I'm applying to at least 5 schools (a wide range of expectations in terms of GPA/GRE).

Open Question: DTS-MA and DTS-HD pcm playback in media player classic?

I have a ATI Radeon HD 4870x2, which does not have bitstream for dts-hd/dts-ma/true-hd formats, it can bitstream core dts and dolby digital and others. I hear to files recorded in 96khz 5.1 format as pcm. true-hd will run as pcm in mpc but i have not been able to find a way to receive dts-hd or dts-ma to run in pcm, just the core dts of it works. even if i could bitstream i personally would not want to, as it throws off programs like mozilla Firefox when you run a movie and bitstream audio, then go back to firefox and audio will not work in Firefox til you restart the browser. i do not look a dts high def codec in ffdshow, but i look a truehd one listed, which works as pcm. the only option i look for dts high def codecs is to bitstream so far.....any ideas???

Open Question: Computer virus, malware, blue screen of death, internet issues?

Recently, I discovered that my computer was infected with viruses and malware. I was using the computer when the computer suddenly crashed into the "blue screen of death" (http://www.actionit.ie/Polar-BlueScreenOfDeath.jpg). The weird thing was that the computer only crashed to the blue screen after I logged into my computer account (I have window 7). The computer was fine as it loaded the intro screen and login screen, but it crashed afterwards when it was loading the desktop. So I went into safe mode, and the computer didn't accident. There, I tried my best to rid the computer of viruses and trojans, but I believe some are still there. There is one weird trojan that has a random name aksgko... (dunno, but it was realllly random), but it said I didn't have access to remove it in my anti-virus program. I cleaned the registry and restarted the computer into normal mode. The computer did not accident into the "blue screen of death" for the first 10 minutes when I logged into my computer account, but it crashed anyway. Currently, this is my 2nd time using the registry cleaner, and the computer isn't crashing yet. But another issue is that now, I can't use the internet on that computer (I use an Ethernet cable). It says that i'm connected, but I can't use it. I looked at the internet properties, it says "IP V4 Connectivity : Internet" and "IP V6 Connectivity : No network". When I try to load a page, it says "mistake 102 (net :: ERR_ CONNECTION _RUFUSED)". And when I tried to connect through usb, it says "unable to connect". I am currently using another computer in the home, and the internet is working just fine. How do I fix the virus, blue screen of death, and internet problem? Thank you =)
